S. Merezhkovsky of the 1900s–1910s. The research establishes that quotations from Russian poetry, the corpus of which has not been compiled before, can function in different ways: they can be a direct source of illumination of a particular topic, a marker of the writer’s antinomic thinking, as well as a mythologeme, the content of which is formed by increasing the meaning and in some cases has autoreflexive potential. 1.
